Foxwoods Casino hosted one of its most exciting poker tournaments ever. The no limit Texas Hold’em Championship poker tournament at the 2004 Foxwoods Casino World Poker Finals saw 674 players competing for over $6.7 Million in prize money including a first place prize of $1,549,588. This was more than twice the turnout and prize pool from last year.

The winner of the 2004 World Poker Finals Championship poker tournament was 26 year old Tuan Le from Los Angeles, California. This was a World Poker Tour event and Tuan will be going to the World Poker Tour Championship tournament at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

The final table of the Foxwoods Casino World Poker Finals Championship included Bradley Berman, Temp Hutter, David Pham, Humberto Brenes, J C Tran, and Tuan Le. Everyone played smart poker, but in the end it was down to Tuan Le and Temp Hutter.

Heads up play began with both players about even in their chip count. Temp patiently built his up his stack to more than a two to one chip lead. That lead crumbled with one hand. Temp had K9, Tuan had 78, and the flop came out 489. Both players felt good about their pair - Tuan went all in and Temp called. Temp had the advantage but that evaporated with the next card which was a 7. Tuan's two pairs were good enough to win the pot and the chip lead switched to Tuan. Shortly after that, Temp went all in with A5 and a 938 flop. Tuan had 67 and was feeling lucky about picking up the straight. He called, and he was right. The next card was a 10 and Tuan emerged victorious.

Still, everyone at the final table had reason to celebrate as the final table split $4,261,090 in prize money.
