Ben Affleck Wins Commerce Casino California Poker Championship
Proving himself a serious student of the game, actor Ben Affleck won the 2004
Commerce Casino California Poker Championship. The poker tournament was part
of the annual California Poker Classic at
Commerce Casino
in California. The championship was a $10,000 buy-in poker tournament that
saw 90 poker players competing for a top prize of $356,400 and a $25,000 seat at the
World Poker Tour Championship
which will take place at the
Bellagio in Las Vegas,
Nevada, in April, 2005.
Mr.
Affleck takes his poker seriously and proved himself with this poker tournament.
He started the final table with the second lowest chip count and went on to best
several top poker pros including Stan Goldstein and former world champion John
Esposito. Stan Goldstein collected $204,930 for second place and Chuck
Pacheco, founder of Castle Rock Entertainment, picked up $106,920 for third place.
Affleck has played in a number of
World Poker Tour tournaments
and is sure to be a regular at many more. In these days of celebrity poker tournaments,
this celebrity looks like the real deal.
