Mexican Poker
These are the Mexican Stud Poker rules.
There are various forms of roll your own five card
stud
poker games with stud poker rule variations that often involve a stripped deck and wild cards.
These stud poker games go by the names Mexican
Poker, Mexican Stud Poker, or Stud Loco.
For example, one such common stud poker game variation has these rules - 8s, 9s, and 10s are stripped
from the deck, and a single joker is added - the deck
therefore contains 41 cards. The seven card and the Jack
become consecutive, so that 5-6-7-J-Q is a straight. In a Mexican Poker
game, a
flush beats a full house (flushes are harder to get with fewer cards of each suit).
In Mexican Poker, the joker often plays as a bug. A Mexican Poker game is played as five card stud poker
choose-before roll your own. Mexican Poker is usually played with
a very high ante, and the high card on the first
poker betting round pays the bring-in.
The game of Shifting Sands Poker is Mexican Stud Poker in which each poker player's hole card (and all
others of that rank) are wild for that poker player only.
Mexican Poker rules take a little time to get comfortable with, but the poker
game can be a lot of fun.
Very few casinos or poker rooms deal Mexican Stud Poker on any regular basis.
One of the few card rooms that does deal Mexican Poker is the
Bicycle Casino in California, which also
deals another hard to find poker game -
Crazy Pineapple Poker. The Bicycle Casino also deals most of the
common poker games including Texas Holdem
and Seven Card Stud poker games.
Those are the rules for Mexican Stud Poker.
