The
Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure is an annual poker tournament
sponsored by online poker room Poker Stars.
The poker tournament is an official stop on the
World Poker Tour.
The 2005 Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure poker tournament takes place January 5-12, at the
Atlantis Casino, located on
Paradise Island in the Bahamas. This is a no limit Texas Hold'em poker
tournament with a buy-in of $7,800 and an entry fee of $200.
There will be two super satellites at the Atlantis Resort and Casino prior to
the event, and players can also enter satellites at the Poker Stars poker room.
The 2004 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure had 221 players and a total prize pool
of $1,657,500. The winner was Gustav Hansen who picked up a first place
prize of $455,780. Other top players in the money included Hoyt Corkins
($290,965), Daniel Negreanu ($192,270), Michael Benedetto ($132,600), John
D’Agostino ($99,450), Remco Schrijvers ($74,590), Roberto Raefelloff ($58,000),
Bill Gazes ($43,000), Don Sjulstad ($28,000), and Lee Pierce ($19,890).
The Atlantis Resort and Casino
is a nice venue for the Caribbean Adventure poker tournament. Atlantis is a
five star resort with plenty of things to do including water sports, golf,
excursions, tennis, spa, numerous restaurants and lounges, and one of the
Caribbean's largest casinos.
