Rio Las Vegas
Rio Hotel and Casino Las Vegas
The Rio Las Vegas is one of the cool places to stay in Las Vegas.
The Rio is located on Flamingo Road just a few blocks off the Vegas Strip.
While the Vegas Strip casinos are just a few minutes away, the Rio is one of
those casino resorts where you may never feel the need to go anywhere else.
The big draws here are the very comfortable suite rooms, one of the nicest pool
areas of any Las Vegas hotel, a lively casino atmosphere, the popular and free
Show in the Sky Parade, night life, and more.
The Rio Hotel and Casino is part of the Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. group of
casinos. Harrah's owns or manages more than 25 casinos in the United
States, primarily under the Harrah's, Rio, Showboat, Horseshoe, and Harveys
brand names.
The Rio Casino has plenty of room with over 100,000 square feet of casino floor.
Patrons will find all of the usual Las Vegas casino games including poker, slot
and video poker machines, blackjack, roulette, craps, baccarat, Caribbean Stud
Poker, Let It Ride, Pai Gow Poker, and keno.
The Rio Casino has a small poker room with 10 tables located in the middle of
the sports book. The games are mostly
Texas Hold'em ($2-$3, $3-$6 and
$4-8) and no limit Texas Hold'em ($2-$5), with some
Seven Card Stud and
Omaha
poker games. The Rio poker room typically has daily poker tournaments at
noon. The poker room is non-smoking and offers table side dining from Toscano's Deli.
The Rio Casino is host to the World Series of Poker,
the most popular tournament in the world of poker. Big money is at stake as well as
gold bracelets and bragging rights. The World Series of Poker is televised by ESPN with WSOP
shows beginning in August.
The Rio also hosts a Race and Sports Book. Racing includes thoroughbreds,
harness racing, and greyhounds with live broadcasts from many of the top
racetracks. The Rio Sports Book offers betting on nearly any sporting
event and the lounge has big-screen TVs for watching the games.
Rio Hotel and Casino offers a good variety of shows and entertainment. The
free Show in the Sky Parade is popular and fun with Brazilian Carnivale style
floats in the sky dropping beads on casino patrons. There are seven shows
daily, between 3 pm and 9:30 pm, in the Masquerade Village section of the Rio
Casino. Stop by the Rio Box Office and get a ticket to put on a costume and
ride a float. Regular headline entertainment includes Penn & Teller (best
described as comedy and magic involving knives, guns, fire, a gorilla and a
showgirl), the Scintas (music, comedy, and impressions with a broad appeal),
Tony n' Tina's Wedding (guys, this is actually a lot more fun than it sounds -
give in to the lady and go), Chippendales, Erocktica (classic rock and girls),
and the comedy of Ronn Lucas.
Ready for some night life? The Rio Hotel and Casino has four main venues
for drinks, music, and mingling - Club Rio, Voodoo Lounge, I-Bar, and Flirt
Lounge. Club Rio is a popular video dance club with 12 huge video walls,
interactive 3-D laser lights, dancers, and an incredible sound system.
Club Rio is generally open Thursday at 11 pm, and Friday & Saturday at 11:30
pm. Looking for a more intimate experience? Try the Voodoo Lounge on
the 51st floor. The Voodoo Lounge is a classy bar with an outside terrace
and extraordinary views of the Las Vegas Strip. The Lounge opens nightly
at 5 pm with live music and dancing starting between 9 and 10 pm. I-Bar
is a techno fusion sort of place with scantily clad hostesses. The Rio
I-Bar kicks into high gear after 10 pm. Flirt Lounge is a bar for the
ladies to hang out in after watching the Chippendales show. Rio promotes
Flirt to the guys by pointing out that it's a good place to find ladies who's
engines are revved up. For more on the Rio Hotel and Casino nightlife, see
the Rio Vegas Nights site at
www.riovegasnights.com.
The Rio Hotel has plenty of dining options. For pre or après dinner,
consider the Wine Cellar & Tasting Room with over 100 wines by the glass.
Rio hosts one of the finest steakhouses in Las Vegas - Fiore Steakhouse with its
signature steaks grilled over olive and mesquite wood. Like Italian?
You must go to Antonio's. Hamada's Asiana is a top Japanese restaurant.
Gaylord India Restaurant is a must stop for fine Indian cuisine. The Rio
Hotel and Casino has plenty of other dining options, including two of the best
buffets in Las Vegas - the Carnival World Buffet and the Village Seafood Buffet.
The Rio is also known for its spa. A Jacuzzi, steam, and massage will take
the edge off the day and clear the mind.
Golfers should take advantage of the Rio Secco Golf Club. This is a world
class course about 15 minutes from the Rio Casino and used primarily by guests
of Rio and Harrah's. Rio Secco has clubs for rent.
The rooms at the Rio Hotel are all suites. The Rio has over 2,500 suites,
each with a separate dressing area, couch, 32 inch TV, table with chairs,
refrigerator, and a safe. There are four types of suites available.
The standard Rio suite has over 600 square feet. The Cariocas suite has about
1100 square feet and includes a wet bar and walk in closet. The Super
suite has 1200 square feet and includes a larger bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub,
wet bar, concierge service, and an upgraded sound system. The Masquerade
suite offers 1600 square feet, a formal dining room with wet bar, master bedroom
with Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower, and the upgraded sound system. High
speed Internet access is available in the rooms.
Rio Hotel and Casino is located at 3700 W. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89103.
