World Poker Tour Satellite
World Poker Tour Satellite Tournament
Play in a World Poker Tour satellite tournament. The
World Poker Tour
is one of the major poker tournaments of the year and the
World Poker Tour Championship
takes place in April, 2006, at the luxurious
Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada (see
World Poker Tour Schedule).
With an estimated prize pool of over $12 Million, the best poker players
around the world will be arriving in Las Vegas to show their stuff.
You can play in the World Poker Tour Championship simply by showing up at Bellagio
and depositing the buy-in of $25,500 (includes entry fee). Of course, many of
us are wondering, do we have the right stuff to win a major poker tournament like
the World Poker Tour championship?
The really interesting thing about poker is that it involves an eclectic
combination of skills ranging from math to psychology. "On any given
Sunday" any player has the potential to peak and beat players who might
otherwise be considered their superiors. Chris Moneymaker, a novice but
skilled poker player, parlayed a $40 online poker fee into a $2.5 million prize
in the World Series of Poker.
You can find out if you have the right stuff without spending over $25,000.
You can enter one of the member poker tournaments (see
World Poker Tour Schedule)
or you can enter a World Poker Tour satellite tournament.
World Poker Tour satellite tournaments are the best way to find out if you are
ready for the "big show." The buy-ins are a fraction of what it
costs to enter the WPT championship. You pay a smaller buy-in to the
WPT satellite tournament, win, and you get your buy-in paid to the World Poker Tour
Championship.
Where do you go for World Poker Tour satellite tournaments? Bellagio will
hold satellite tournaments at their casino in the days prior to the WPT championship.
You can also enter World Poker Tour Satellite tournaments online which are
offered throughout the year at poker rooms such as
Party Poker.
Matt Matros, a
graduate student in fiction writing at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, finished third in the
2004 World Poker Tour Championship,
winning $706,903, after entering a $100 satellite at Party Poker. (Party Poker is a
member of the WPT and hosts one of the member poker tournaments - the
Party Poker Million.)
